That is great news. I do them everyday. I have heard a number of reports that it is a great way to preserve your thinking ability and keeps your mind active and healthy.
I also have an electronic version that I use when flying, a passenger in the car, or sitting having a flat white while Pauline is shopping.
Encourage it, far better than the many other electronic games that kids play nowadays.
quick… throw a box of matches on the ground and see if the young one is in fact the next rain man (PS – it only works if you take some out of the box first ;-)
:-)
actually, it shouldn’t surprise me too much. she’s only in year 2, but her teacher informed us earlier in the year that her maths and english scores were apparently “off the chart” (it was one of those teacher-parent meetings that you worry about and then are pleasantly shocked over…)
she asked for one of the books at the newsagent, and i got her one thinking that there was no way she would really get it. i explained the basic rules to her and then expected her to struggle and make lots of mistakes. so, off she went, and came back an hour later with it all done without error. i asked her who helped her out and i got “the look”… so, i’ve got her helping me out with mine, which is handy…
