this question was raised by justice albie sachs of the south african constitutional court in a bbc radio conversation…
“is it possible to legislate pluralism and tolerance?”
how do we cater in a pluralistic society for those who hate or are intolerant or radical in their views? at which point do we become intolerant of views that run counter to our value of tolerance. it’s a great ethics question, and more than a little relevant in the current political climate across the world.
15 years ago on a cold stormy night here in perth, we welcomed our second child into the world. should have called her “storm”… just kidding! :-)
amy’s a beautiful, smart and gifted young lady, and it’s hard to believe that she’s 15 today… wow!

this is one of my favourite shots of her. brings back great memories. she and i have the “harry potter” thing, where i have gone to every movie with her on the first day and stood in line with her to get every book as it has come out. this was from a few years ago (can’t remember when that one came out?). the quality is bad (old phone camera in very bad light – it was EARLY!), but it’s enough to flood me with great memories.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! :-)
do NOT try this…!
This is too funny… it’s scary to think how many people might go for this.
odd thing was i got hit up with this through twitter.
