say what you like about Apple (have i mentioned lately how much i love my macbook?!), but they know about design and they know about customer service. i LOVE using the Apple online store – the speed and smoothness of transactions is amazing.
i ordered something yesterday arvo and got it today. now that’s impressive.
i remember when i pre-ordered the mac osx leopard upgrade – i expected it to rock up a couple of days after the official launch, and was shocked to have it turn up on my doorstep at lunch time on the day of the official launch. that’s cool and worth paying for.
so, what else can i buy? :-) (actually, there’s too much i like at the Apple store, so i have to ration out my visits…)

if you feel like Easter has come upon you a bit quickly this year, well, it’s probably true – this will be the earliest Easter pretty much all of us will ever experience in our lifetime. but, having said that, it seems everything comes up way too quickly – i think it’s a function of age… everything about my life seems to have sped up quite a bit since my early 20′s. (that’s also the point at which i got married, so perhaps that’s the real issue?! :-))
anyways, i know i haven’t had much to say (here) lately, but i’ve just been focused on other stuff and blogging has taken a second peg. that’s ok – i firmly believe that “success” in life (however you choose to define it) is about focusing on the right things and relentlessly pushing away all the distractions that would tempt us away to other less important things.
right now, i’m focusing on Easter, and i wish you all the deepest and most profound experience of Jesus this Easter, however you celebrate it.

was feeling a bit philosophical this afternoon, and was contemplating this thought…
does not the very fact that we even think about the existence of God prove his existence?
i have serious doubts as to whether any other living thing asks these sorts of questions, which (it seems to me) proves an inherent difference between us and other critters.
March 9th, 2008 — church, life
bit of a different routine this weekend. we enjoyed our church retreat out at serpentine, which made for quite a different sort of weekend. al thomas from kalgoorlie baptist church shared the weekend with us and challenged us on prayer – some really good stuff. we cancelled one of our services back home and leigh and i flew back to warnbro to lead our early service before returning to serpentine.
after a couple of years running multiple services each sunday, it felt a little weird just having the one service!
one of the great things about camps and retreats are those lazy afternoons lying on a lawn having relaxed conversations with the margin that seems to elude us so often.

“We don’t get a chance to do that many things, and every one should be really excellent. Because this is our life. Life is brief, and then you die, you know? So this is what we’ve chosen to do with our life. We could be sitting in a monastery somewhere in Japan. We could be out sailing. Some of the [executive team] could be playing golf. They could be running other companies. And we’ve all chosen to do this with our lives. So it better be damn good. It better be worth it. And we think it is.” — Steve Jobs @ Apple
i love this quote and the passion it drips. that’s the way i want to live my life, doing something worth doing and making the most of this short slice of time. making macs would be pretty cool, but there’s not much to beat being a part of changing lives…

One of the hats I wear is as the Regional Director of ACOM, and I want to recommend to you this excellent opportunity for study or professional development coming up in Perth. We always whine here in Perth about the top line people not travelling out here, so here’s something excellent for you in your backyard.

Keith Farmer has been spending the last couple of years mentoring a number of significant church leaders across Australia, and Peter McHugh is one of the most thoughtful and interesting guys I’ve listened to – this is a fantastic opportunity, so don’t miss out on it!
